Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Induction

On February 6th, 19 of our undergraduate nursing students were inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma). This prestigious organization is dedicated to empowering nurses and nursing students worldwide. Students with Sigma memberships have access to a variety of opportunities, such as scholarships, professional development, career connections, and more.

The induction ceremony was led by Petr Ruda (DNP), president of the Iota Iota Sigma chapter, and Sara Davis (FNP), the chapter’s treasurer. Prior to the dinner and awards, Susan Chasson, the program manager of Utah Coalition Against Sexual Assault, presented an outstanding keynote speech. She described the importance of having genuine intentions as a nurse and choosing the career for the right reasons.

Don’t take your profession for granted…Pursue nursing because you are passionate about caring for others, not because you 'want a new refrigerator.'
Susan Chasson

Susan highlighted a fundamental aspect of nursing: the ability to enrich both the lives of patients and one's own. This sentiment resonates deeply with the values of both Sigma and the College of Nursing. We greatly appreciate Susan's insightful remarks.

Following the keynote speech, the dinner and award ceremony commenced.

The College of Nursing celebrates all the students recently inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. We are excited to witness their future achievements and the positive influence they will have on the healthcare field.
